This is the first post of a new blog for me:the Suburban Parson. While I write articles on Medium, I really haven’t blogged much over the last five or six years. Blogging just became passè, so I just moved on.
Except that’s not all of the reason I haven’t blogged as much. For a while there, everytime I shared something it tended to piss people off- so much so, that I became less sure of myself and writing, which has always been a difficult prospect-even though I love it-became a source of anxiety.
But the last year has made me see the importance of writing for me. I need a place where I can write just for me. So much of the internet these days is about trying to get the most people to read your essay, or post or tweet. It’s important to have a place where I’m not looking for how many people have looked at my latest article on Medium or my latest tweet.
So here I am. I will be writing on religious issues, though I might talk about my autism/adhd or about my podcast. But for the most part it will be about the good and bad of being a pastor or small church in the suburbs of Minneapolis.
Feel free to follow along and welcome.
